Concern about the nurse Aude Fagot, missing since the end of May, is growing daily in the French Haut-Doubs. On Monday, June 8, about 250 citizens took part in a large-scale search operation in the municipality of Jougne near the Swiss border. Despite the impressive commitment of the helpers, the search has so far yielded no results.
The 44-year-old woman has been missing since May 31. Since her disappearance, investigators have been working tirelessly to determine her whereabouts. Hope for new insights was sparked by an extensive civilian search operation organized by the authorities and accompanied by about 30 gendarmes.
Volunteers gathered in Jougne early in the morning. They then systematically searched a forest area of about three square kilometers. The operation focused on the area where the missing person’s vehicle was found on June 4. The terrain is considered challenging: dense woods, confusing paths, and numerous natural obstacles significantly complicate the search.
For hours, the search team moved through the area in rows. Anyone who has ever participated in such an operation knows the unique mix of hope and tension. Every object on the forest floor, every unusual track increases alertness. But at the end of the day, the disappointing conclusion remained: no new clue brought the investigators a step further.
For the family and the immediate surroundings of Aude Fagot, this means a new painful phase of uncertainty. Especially in missing persons cases, every piece of information, no matter how small, often counts. Therefore, the investigators are continuing their work with urgency.
The authorities currently do not rule out any possibilities. In addition to an accident or voluntary absence, the investigators are also examining the possible involvement of a third party. In this early phase of the investigation, it is important to carefully evaluate all leads and not hastily dismiss any theory.
The investigation is in the hands of the detective unit of Pontarlier. At the same time, the police are once again reaching out to the public and asking for help. Sometimes an observation that initially seems insignificant is enough to cause a decisive turn in a case.
Aude Fagot is 1.56 meters tall, slim, has medium-length brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone who has information about her disappearance or possible whereabouts is asked to contact the gendarmerie of Les Hôpitaux-Neufs directly or via the emergency number.
As the days pass, hope remains that new clues will emerge and the fate of the missing person can be clarified. The exceptional involvement of the population clearly shows how great the interest in the region is and how strong the desire is to find answers.
