Monaco: Investigators Release Video of Explosion

Monaco – 18/07/2026: Nearly three weeks after the explosion at the entrance to a residential building in Monaco, new evidence has been made public. Ukraine’s Office of the Prosecutor General released a video lasting just under 40 seconds which, according to the office, documents the June 29 attack. It shows a person placing an object in the entrance area. Shortly afterward, an explosion shakes the image.

According to investigators, the target was Ukrainian-born businessman Vadym Yermolaiev. His partner and her minor son were also injured. The family was deliberately targeted, the Monaco public prosecutor’s office had already stated after the attack. No new officially confirmed details about the current health condition of the three victims were provided in the newly released video statement.

The footage is said to come from a camera that the alleged participants in the crime themselves reportedly installed near the building. Ukrainian Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko described the recordings as important secured evidence. According to the Ukrainian authorities, they could show that the execution of the attack was intended to be monitored or documented. However, this does not replace a final forensic assessment by the competent investigators in Monaco.

The investigation extends across several borders. Based on information disclosed so far, authorities from Monaco, France and Ukraine are involved; Interpol was also integrated into the manhunt process. Monaco’s judiciary is investigating an attempted homicide. Investigators continue to make no statement about the motive. This question is particularly central: who planned or commissioned the attack remains unclear.

Authorities had identified Anastasiia Berezovska as the suspected perpetrator. The woman was found dead in Ukraine with gunshot wounds a few days after the explosion. Ukrainian security authorities said that an employee of the military intelligence service had admitted to the killing. According to this account, he acted on his own authority; any knowledge by his superiors is denied. These claims are part of ongoing investigations.

The death of the suspect has not ended the effort to solve the case, but has made it more difficult. Her possible contacts, escape routes and the background to the crime continue to be investigated. Whether she acted alone also remains open. For investigators, this now primarily means bringing together technical evidence, communications data and witness statements across national borders.

In Monaco, the case has shaken perceptions of security in the densely built-up and affluent city-state. The newly released video provides a striking impression of how the crime unfolded. However, it does not answer the decisive question of who was responsible behind the scenes. Until a legally sound determination is reached, all parties are presumed innocent.
