Mother of Rosa Reacts Emotionally to Donations for Her Legal Battle Against the State After Rape Allegations Against Jérôme Barella

Fleurance – 16.06.2026: The mother of Rosa, a twelve-year-old student from the French department of Gers, has filed a lawsuit against the state following serious allegations against Jérôme Barella. Barella is suspected of having repeatedly raped Rosa. The woman accuses the authorities of gross negligence, as despite a complaint filed in August 2025 against Barella, no investigations were conducted for a long time and he was never questioned.

Rosa had reported repeated sexual assaults in the apartment of the accused. Only after the body of eleven-year-old Lyhanna was found on June 4, 2026, and Barella was subsequently arrested, did the case come to public attention. Lyhanna fell victim to a crime that has reignited the tense debate about how the justice system handles such cases. Barella is held responsible not only in connection with Lyhanna’s death but also for the accusations by Rosa.

Rosa’s mother reacted emotionally to the numerous donations collected in a public solidarity campaign for her legal battle. This support gives her strength in the fight for justice and expresses important societal backing. The aim of the lawsuit is to hold those responsible for the alleged failures of the authorities accountable and to highlight systemic deficiencies that led to such a delayed response.

The public sympathy expressed through donations and encouraging messages reflects the outrage over the allegations against Barella, while criticism of the handling of these sensitive investigations is also growing. The mother emphasized how important this support is for the progress of the case and how much she hopes that her initiative will lead to improved treatment of sexual violence victims in France.

The cases of Rosa and Lyhanna shed light on possible shortcomings in the justice system regarding complaints of sexual violence. Debates about necessary reforms are ongoing at both societal and political levels to prevent similar tragedies in the future and to better protect victims.

With great gratitude, Rosa’s mother accepts the support from the community. She sees her legal battle not only as a search for individual justice for her daughter but also as an opportunity to raise public awareness about the urgent need for new measures in the fight against sexual violence. This commitment is supported by a broad public demanding change and wishing to give victims a stronger voice.
