Night Markets Bring Summer to Life in Banne, Ardeche

Banne – 21/07/2026: The summer producers’ night market once again brought together visitors, residents and regional vendors in Banne, Ardeche, on Monday evening. On Place de l’Eglise, producers offer their goods during the evening hours. The event is part of a packed summer programme through which municipalities in the Cevennes keep their town centres lively even after the daytime heat has subsided.

The producers’ market in Banne has been held every Monday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. since June 29 and is scheduled to continue until September 7, 2026. Admission is free. The event is aimed at holidaymakers as well as local residents and focuses on direct contact between vendors and customers. The organisers highlight tastings and exchanges with the producers.

On Monday, July 20, a market of local craftspeople was held at the same time on Place du Fort. This event is part of the “Nocturnes de Banne” and is organised by the Art’Titude association. Items on offer include jewellery, textiles, soaps, ceramics and decorative products. According to the tourist office, the crafts market includes around 20 local exhibitors and runs on Mondays from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The staggered schedules of the two events make Banne a meeting place for food and craft products on summer Mondays. For vendors, the evening hours provide an additional sales opportunity during the holiday season. Visitors can buy regional products without having to visit the town centre during the hottest hours of the day. No specific visitor figures were published for the July 20 event.

Other places in the Ardeche Cevennes also rely on evening markets in July and August. The regional tourist office lists, among other events for July 21, a night market featuring craftspeople, creatives and local producers in Les Vans. A night market is also scheduled in Berrias-et-Casteljau. These events combine commerce, regional specialities and summer leisure activities.

For Banne, the format remains firmly on the calendar in the coming weeks. The producers’ market on Place de l’Eglise is scheduled every Monday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., followed by the crafts market on Place du Fort from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. According to the programme currently published, both series are set to continue until the end of August and the beginning of September respectively.

The night markets are therefore not only a tourist attraction, but also a visible sales platform for regional businesses and creative professionals. Particularly in smaller municipalities in southern Ardeche, they provide a reason to visit town centres in the evening. In Banne, the programme combines the sale of local products with craft offerings in two nearby squares.
