Paris – 06/03/2026: The French comedian Panayotis Pascot gave a rare insight into his childhood and fears during the live broadcast “20 Heures” on France 2. When asked by host Léa Salamé whether he was calm or lively as a child, Pascot humorously admitted: “I’ve always been an old man. My mother said, ‘You scared me when you were little.'”
Pascot described having a strong fear of death as a child. Often, he secretly crept downstairs at night to listen whether his parents were still alive. “I went downstairs and listened. Luckily, my father snored loudly, so I knew he was alive. It was harder with my mother, so I woke her up,” he recounted. To give him reassurance, his parents eventually installed a baby monitor so he could hear their voices.
With his typically dry humor, Pascot added, “I heard them snore for years. I think I stole a bit of their sexuality.” This lightened the mood and prompted laughter in the studio.
Spontaneously, Pascot took the opportunity to apologize to his parents: “Dad, Mom, I’m sorry, I’m no longer at home. Enjoy it!” This unexpected apology showed his loving way of handling memories of his childhood.
The comedian also confessed to having suffered from obsessive fear of death for a long time, which even led to psychotherapy. “I was very anxious, really very anxious. My psychologist wanted to know why I told people that I touched my nipples to disappear,” explained Pascot.
His openness about these difficult topics is also reflected in his current stage program “Entre les deux,” where he humorously and touching deals with growing up. On June 5, 2026, the artist will perform two shows at the renowned Palais Garnier in Paris.
For Pascot, it is a special moment to stand before such a prestigious audience. “Laughing in the Palais Garnier, that’s a dream!” he wrote enthusiastically on Instagram. Tickets for the performances are already available and promise an emotional yet humorous experience.
Panayotis Pascot demonstrates with his art how personal humor can convey important human themes like fears and family relationships in a connecting and entertaining way. His stories invite embracing fears humorously and beyond that to take a look at life between childhood and adulthood.
