Parc Astérix conquers Germany: the Idéfix Adventure zone opens at Belantis

Leipzig – 06/02/2026: Parc Astérix, known for its humorous interpretations of the Gallic world, has now also conquered Germany. In the former Belantis Park near Leipzig, the first themed area “Adventures of Idéfix” was inaugurated on May 27, 2026. This marks the beginning of a gradual transformation of the park, which will be completed by 2030/31 and will create the first Parc Astérix outside of France.

The inauguration of “Adventures of Idéfix” was celebrated with a solemn ceremony attended by local politicians, media members, and numerous children. In addition to the famous comic characters Astérix and Obélix, a real dog dressed as Idéfix was also present. This new area is specifically aimed at families with young children and includes four new attractions as well as a large adventure playground.

The attractions in “Adventures of Idéfix” are specifically designed to meet the needs of families with young children. Among these is a mini water ride called “Idéfix’ River Ride” and other games that reflect the charm of the Gallic world. A highlight is the adventure playground “Idéfix’s Hideout,” which allows children to immerse themselves in the comic book world.

The decision to transform Belantis Park into a Parc Astérix was made by Compagnie des Alpes, which acquired the park in April 2025 for around 22 million euros. The transformation is taking place in close collaboration with Editions Albert René, the publishers of the Astérix comics. The first phase of the refurbishment, the opening of “Adventures of Idéfix,” was already completed in spring 2026.

Germany represents, after France, the second most important market for the Astérix comics. In 2023, 1.4 million copies of the album “The White Iris” were sold in Germany, while the French edition exceeded 2 million copies sold. These figures underline the potential of the German market for the new park.

Belantis Park, opened in 2003, spans about 80 hectares and is strategically located near Leipzig, Dresden, and Berlin. This location offers excellent conditions to become an important destination for amusement park visitors. Compagnie des Alpes plans to completely transform the park into Parc Astérix Germany by 2030/31, aiming to welcome up to 900,000 visitors per year.

The opening of “Adventures of Idéfix” represents the first step of this long-term strategy. Other themed areas and attractions are already planned to continuously expand the park and offer visitors an authentic experience centered around Astérix. The transformation will be carried out gradually to meet the high quality standards of the brand.
