Leipzig – 06/02/2026: Parc Astérix, known for its humorous interpretations of the Gallic world, has now also conquered Germany. On May 27, 2026, the first themed area “Idéfix’ Adventure Land” opened in the former Belantis Park near Leipzig. This marks the start of a gradual transformation of the park, which is planned to be completed by 2030/31, bringing the first Astérix Park outside France.
The opening of “Idéfix’ Adventure Land” was celebrated with a ceremonial event attended by local politicians, media representatives, and numerous children. Besides the well-known comic characters Astérix and Obélix, a real dog dressed as Idéfix was also present. This new zone is especially aimed at families with younger children and includes four brand-new attractions as well as a large adventure playground.
The attractions in “Idéfix’ Adventure Land” are specifically tailored to the needs of families with small children. Among others, there is a mini water ride called “Idéfix’ River Ride” and other rides reflecting the charm of the Gallic world. A highlight is the adventure playground “Idéfix’ Hideout,” which offers children the chance to immerse themselves in the world of the comics.
The decision to transform Belantis Park into an Astérix Park was made by Compagnie des Alpes, which acquired the park in April 2025 for approximately 22 million euros. The transformation is being carried out in close cooperation with Editions Albert René, the publishers of the Astérix comics. The first phase of the redesign, the opening of “Idéfix’ Adventure Land,” was already realized in spring 2026.
Germany represents, after France, the second largest market for Astérix comics. In 2023, 1.4 million copies of the album “L’Iris Blanc” were sold in Germany, while the French edition sold 2 million copies. These figures underline the potential of the German market for the new park.
Belantis Park, which opened in 2003, covers about 80 hectares and is conveniently located near Leipzig, Dresden, and Berlin. This location offers excellent conditions to serve as a significant destination for amusement park visitors. Compagnie des Alpes plans to fully transform the park into Astérix Park Germany by 2030/31, aiming to welcome up to 900,000 visitors annually.
The opening of “Idéfix’ Adventure Land” is the first step in this long-term strategy. Additional themed areas and attractions are already being planned to continuously expand the park and provide visitors with an authentic Astérix experience. The park’s transformation will take place step-by-step to meet the brand’s high-quality standards.
For fans of the Astérix comics and films, the new park in Germany offers a welcome opportunity to experience the world of the Gallic heroes up close. With the opening of “Idéfix’ Adventure Land,” the first step toward a unique amusement park experience themed around Astérix and his friends has been taken.
