Parcoursup 2026: Two out of Three Lycéens Already Receive Positive Admission

Paris – 03.06.2026: Philippe Baptiste, Minister of Higher Education, announced on Wednesday that two out of three lycée students have already received a positive response to their applications via the Parcoursup platform. The first notifications were sent on Tuesday, giving many students an initial insight into their admission status. “When we look at the group of lycée students who will be taking the baccalaureate, two out of three have already received a positive answer today,” Baptiste explained on Franceinfo.

The Parcoursup platform, introduced in 2018, serves as a centralized application and admission system for French higher education programs. It allows candidates to make up to 15 wishes for different educational institutions and to view and manage their application responses via a digital platform. One goal is greater transparency and efficiency in the admission process.

On June 2, 2026, at 7 p.m., the main admission phase began, during which candidates can retrieve their admission notices and respond to offers. For technical reasons, the platform was initially available in consultation mode to allow simultaneous access by multiple candidates before gradually enabling interactions. By April 1, about 640,000 lycée students had confirmed at least one wish, corresponding to 97.4 percent of registered final-year students. The average number of wishes is thus slightly above last year.

The main phase is expected to run until July 11, 2026. During this period, candidates will be regularly updated and can respond to admission offers. Those who do not have a positive response by June 11 will have the opportunity in a subsequent phase to submit new applications for programs with still available spots.

Baptiste emphasized that the process is not yet complete and appealed to the patience of those affected. “There is no reason to despair now: it is just beginning,” he said, assuring that “everyone will find a place to study.” Despite a slight increase in applications, the allocation of places remains challenging, especially in highly demanded fields.

Parcoursup has significantly changed the French university admission system by enabling centralized control and overview. Critics initially cited technical problems and lack of transparency, but with ongoing adjustments the platform is steadily improving. Education experts are closely watching how the system will handle the increasing number of applicants and the demands of students in the future.

For further information and individual support, candidates can use the official Parcoursup website or contact the responsible educational authorities. Additionally, many schools and counseling centers offer assistance to guide through the application process and reduce uncertainties.
