Patrick Bruel: Three new criminal complaints for sexual violence – one alleged act not time-barred

Paris – 03.07.2026: Singer and actor Patrick Bruel is, according to investigations by the platform Mediapart, facing three additional criminal complaints alleging sexual violence. According to the report, the complaints were filed on June 25 and July 1, 2026 — two concern allegations of rape, and one concerns sexual activity with a minor. Mediapart writes that at least one of the reported acts is not time-barred.

The complaints fit into an investigative picture that has been building since March 2026, in which several women are said to have given statements independently of one another. According to previous media reports, the judiciary in Nanterre is responsible. There, individual procedural steps in the past — such as preliminary examinations and interviews — were confirmed without revealing details about alleged victims or the circumstances of the incidents. Regarding the three complaints that have now become known, the public prosecutor’s office said that at the time of Mediapart’s publication no full confirmation of all points had yet been made; the review is ongoing.

In France, allegations of this kind are first legally assessed by the police and the public prosecutor. Possible steps include the opening of formal investigations by an investigating judge, further hearings and, where applicable, confrontations.
