Prayer Night with Pope Leo XIV at the Stade de France Sells Out Quickly

Saint-Denis – 10.08.2026: Places for the prayer night with Pope Leo XIV at the Stade de France were taken within an hour on Monday. According to Franceinfo, strong demand began immediately after registration opened. The event on Friday, September 25, 2026, is intended, in line with the guidelines of the Catholic Church in France, for young adults aged 17 to 35.

The prayer night is one of the largest events during the Pope’s visit to France from September 25 to 28. Before travelling to Saint-Denis, Leo XIV is expected to take part in Vespers at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Groups from dioceses across the country are then expected at the national stadium. Several regional registration offices are preparing organized travel and accommodation.

The Mass on Saturday, September 26, is also attracting exceptionally strong interest. According to Franceinfo, more than 200,000 places have been reserved for the celebration at the Place de la Concorde and along the Champs-Élysées. Unlike the prayer night at the Stade de France, this service is open to visitors of all ages. The geographical scale of the event requires close coordination of entry points, security checks and transport routes.

The French Bishops’ Conference confirmed both major events at the end of June as fixed elements of the trip. It is organizing the reception together with the Archdiocese of Paris and the Diocese of Saint-Denis. Details on entry times, travel routes and participation requirements are being published by the national organization of the papal visit on its information platform.

The visit begins in Paris and will then take Leo XIV to Lourdes and Metz. A Mass is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, at the Lourdes Marian pilgrimage site. The visit will conclude on Monday, September 28, with a service at Saint-Etienne Cathedral in Metz.

Following the rapid allocation of places, organizers are now entering the logistical phase. Within two days, large visitor flows must first be directed to Saint-Denis and then to central Paris. This also includes the arrival and accommodation of numerous youth groups, as well as coordination between church authorities, venues and local officials. The level of interest in the visit is already evident from the registration figures: the Stade de France sold out within an hour, while more than 200,000 places have been reserved for the Paris Mass.
