RN MP Tanguy on podcast: Solidarity with Marine Le Pen ahead of appeal ruling

Paris – 02.07.2026: In the video podcast “Dans les Yeux d’Agathe” by franceinfo, RN MP Jean-Philippe Tanguy reaffirmed his support for Marine Le Pen. Many people could, Tanguy said, recognize themselves in the weaknesses described by Le Pen. At the same time he spoke about personal aspects, including his homosexuality, and explained his rejection of surrogacy (GPA). The mix of private matters and political positioning is part of a communication line with which the Rassemblement National (RN) wants to signal breadth while preserving conservative core attitudes.

Tanguy placed his remarks in the judicial calendar: the appeals chamber in Paris has scheduled the announcement of its decision for 7 July 2026. The procedure concerns the alleged abusive use of funds from the European Parliament for staff members with duties outside parliamentary operations. The case has been politically charged for years because a conviction could have possible consequences for the party leadership and its future electability. Tanguy himself avoided detailed assessments and pointed to the jurisdiction of the courts and the work of the defense.

The appearance is part of a phase of intensive public relations by the RN. The party leadership is trying to demonstrate unity and limit uncertainty ahead of the impending verdict. Observers see in Tanguy’s personal openness an attempt to reach new voter groups without relativizing core issues such as order, sovereignty and purchasing power. Connecting individual biography with programmatic lines is intended to make the party more accessible without creating ruptures from its previous course.

Franceinfo positions the podcast as a dialogue-oriented format in which politicians appear beyond classic confrontations. The conversation with Tanguy was produced editorially and is part of a series of episodes that portray different currents of the party system ahead of the 2027 presidential election cycle. For the RN, the week up to 7 July marks a test: a verdict with electoral or reputational consequences would reshuffle strategic planning, top personnel and possible candidacies. Until the decision, signals of loyalty, legal restraint and preparations for various political scenarios dominate.

Regardless of the outcome, the procedure remains a touchstone for how French parties deal with allegations about the use of funds in European structures. For the public, alongside the legal assessment, the question of internal control mechanisms is also at stake. Tanguy’s appearance shows that the RN closely links its messages to the judicial calendar – while at the same time trying to use personal narratives to generate bonding effects among undecided voters.
