Berlin – 02.06.2026: Uber has released its annual Lost & Found Index, listing the most unusual forgotten items found in its vehicles. The 2026 edition features, among other things, an air fryer, a clothes drying rack, and a PS5 controller.
The index is based on reports of lost items from rides taken via the Uber app between April 1, 2025, and March 1, 2026. During this period, many everyday items such as mobile phones, backpacks, and wallets were left behind. However, there were also particularly curious objects found in the vehicles.
The most unusual finds include an air fryer, a clothes drying rack, camping chairs, a shoe rack, strollers, walkers, as well as scooters and e-scooters. Inside the cabins, lost items included teeth, a full shopping bag, a maternity record book, darts, a headband with large black horns, two disco lights, a pull-up bar, a Bundeswehr field cap, a pack of pepper, a hookah, an electric garage door opener, a can of dog food, a single bed screw, the arm of a wedding dress, an epilator, and a vacuum cleaner foot.
The most commonly forgotten items in Germany are mobile phones and cameras, followed by backpacks, bags, folders, and pieces of luggage. Wallets, keys, as well as headphones and speakers, take the next places. Clothing, passports, jewelry, watches, makeup, laptops, and glasses are also frequently forgotten items.
Most lost items are returned to their owners within a few hours after the ride. Uber offers passengers the option to contact the driver directly to recover lost items. To do this, they can select the relevant ride under “Activity” in the Uber app and use the option “Find a lost item.” Afterwards, they can enter their phone number to contact the driver and arrange the return.
The Uber Lost & Found Index has been published for ten years and illustrates how forgetful passengers are worldwide. This year’s edition, alongside the quirky finds, also includes an analysis of the most forgetful cities and days. In Germany, Bremen ranks as the most forgetful city, followed by Mannheim, Düsseldorf, and Stuttgart. Hamburg is the most attentive city with the lowest loss rate. Sunday mornings between one and two a.m. record the highest number of lost item reports for the entire week.
The Uber Lost & Found Index 2026 offers an interesting insight into passenger forgetfulness and the variety of lost items. It shows that everything from everyday objects to quirky items can be forgotten in Uber vehicles. Passengers are encouraged to follow the steps mentioned above if they lose an item to quickly recover their belongings.
