US Strikes Iran Again After Death of Two Soldiers in Jordan

Kuwait City – 19 July 2026: The United States carried out new airstrikes against military targets in Iran overnight into Sunday. According to US Central Command, the operations targeted units of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards that, according to the US account, were involved in an attack on American personnel in Jordan. Two US soldiers had previously been killed there.

The US military also said that another service member was missing following the attack on the base in Jordan. Four other soldiers had to be taken to hospitals, it said. Washington described the renewed strikes as a direct response to the deadly losses. Details about the exact course of the attack in Jordan initially remained limited.

According to Central Command, the targets of the US strikes included military coastal surveillance, air defense systems, maritime capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites. No independent information on possible casualties or damage from the latest wave of attacks in Iran was initially available. Iranian authorities also initially released no verifiable information about the consequences of the US operations.

In response, Iran’s leadership reported drone attacks on two military locations in Kuwait used by the United States. It named Camp Arifjan and Ali Al Salem Air Base. The claims from Tehran could not initially be independently confirmed. Kuwait had already repeatedly reported attacks on its territory and damage to key infrastructure in recent days.

The latest escalation is worsening the situation in several states along the Persian Gulf. Kuwait and Jordan are among the countries where US forces and allied units are stationed. According to reports by international news agencies, the reciprocal attacks have been continuing for several days. The United States accuses Iran of directing attacks against its soldiers and regional partners. Tehran, by contrast, portrays its attacks as a response to American strikes on Iranian territory. There is currently no sign of a credible agreement to contain the hostilities.

For Kuwait’s population, the security situation around military and critical infrastructure remains the key concern. The country’s authorities recently said that missiles and drones had been intercepted, while impacts on energy, water, and oil facilities had also been recorded. Whether the drone attacks reported on 19 July caused further damage initially remained unclear.
