PSG victory in Champions League: celebrations at the Champ-de-Mars and at the Parc des Princes

Paris – 31.05.2026: After the dramatic victory of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League on May 30, 2026 against Arsenal (1-1, 4-3 on penalties), thousands of fans took to the streets of Paris on May 31 to celebrate the second consecutive title.

Already in the afternoon about 85,000–90,000 supporters had gathered at the Champ-de-Mars. The players paraded on a 450-meter-long stage in front of the stunning backdrop of the Eiffel Tower and displayed the coveted trophy amid great cheers. Before the official celebrations, clashes occurred in Paris and other French cities in the night between May 30 and 31. More than 400 people were arrested and several police officers were injured. The riots were concentrated mainly on the Champs-Élysées and near the Parc des Princes, where fires were set, shops and vehicles were damaged and an attempt was made to storm a police station. Authorities strongly condemned these acts of violence as “absolutely unacceptable.”

Despite these disturbances, the Interior Ministry confirmed that the planned celebrations at the Champ-de-Mars would take place as scheduled. In the evening the gates of the Parc des Princes were opened to fans who celebrated the triumph there together with the players. The atmosphere was largely peaceful and animated by great enthusiasm.

PSG’s success marks an important moment for elite French football. Under the guidance of coach Luis Enrique, at the club since 2023, the team focused more on cohesion and team spirit rather than on standout individual performances. This strategic change has transformed PSG into a stable and combative side.

With the second consecutive title, PSG consolidates its position among Europe’s leading clubs and sends a strong signal for the future development of the club and French football in general. Fans’ celebrations in the streets of Paris reflected the significance of this success, despite the negative aspect of the nighttime riots.
