In total, more than twenty people have now reached out to the investigative bodies.
This case is regaining momentum, whereas previously in France it mainly remained on the sidelines of the international handling of Epstein. While public attention was previously focused primarily on the United States and the United Kingdom, the question of Paris’s role in the network of the billionaire who died in 2019 is now gaining increasing interest.
Investigation into Human Trafficking and Financial Structures
The French judiciary opened two comprehensive investigations in February 2026. The first concerns possible sexual crimes and suspicions of human trafficking. The second focuses on financial links and money flows possibly connected to Epstein.
The starting point of the investigations includes documents and testimonies from the United States, which provided the French authorities with new approaches. The focus is on the question of whether Epstein had assistants, contacts, or organizational structures in France to support or secure the alleged criminal acts.
The investigators are particularly interested in international networks between the fashion industry, finance, and the social elite. France has a special significance in this context, as Paris has served as a central meeting point for international agencies, investors, and wealthy networks for many decades.
Apartment on Avenue Foch
Special attention is given to Epstein’s luxurious apartment on Avenue Foch in the 16th district of Paris. This prestigious address near the Arc de Triomphe is one of the most expensive areas in Europe and has been a meeting point for international businessmen, diplomats, and celebrities for many years.
French investigators have long examined the comings and goings at this apartment and whether the apartment was part of a larger network. The issue is not only about the possible criminal acts but also the question of who had knowledge of the events, and why the evidence seemed to be overlooked for years without consequences.
The case touches on a sensitive topic in French society: the close connection between economic power, social prestige, and institutional silence. Particularly in Paris, there are very tight traditional networks between politics, economics, the luxury industry, and the media. Investigators must now clarify whether these structures made it more difficult to illuminate the case.
The Role of Jean-Luc Brunel
In the part related to the Epstein case in France, former modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel played a key role. Brunel was considered for many years to be a close associate of Epstein and was active in the international modeling industry between Paris, New York, and Miami.
Many women accuse him of deliberately recruiting young models for Epstein or abusing them sexually himself. Brunel was arrested in France in 2020 and charged with statutory rape and sexual harassment.
His death in 2022 while in custody abruptly ended the case but left many questions unanswered. Officially ruled a suicide. However, critics argue that this lost important testimonies and suspicious clues related to other people.
