Wildfires in Portugal and Northeastern Spain: EU Aid Activated, Communities Secured

Vouzela - 04.07.2026: In central Portugal, around the municipalities of Vouzela, Oliveira de Frades and Tondela in the Viseu district, emergency crews have been battling several large-scale wildfires since the beginning of July. Increasing winds and persistent heat on July 2 created new fire fronts that quickly reached densely vegetated slopes and spread across municipal boundaries.
