Paris – 30.05.2026: Gabriel Attal, former Prime Minister and candidate of the Renaissance party, made his first official campaign appearance for the 2027 presidential election on May 30, 2026, in Paris. Before several thousand supporters, he presented his message of the “French Promise” focusing on the keywords “action and hope.”
Attal distanced himself from a politics of conflict and problem creation by stating that he would “leave the blood and tears to others” and instead promised “capability for action and optimism.” He presented himself as a candidate who stands for belief in the future and positive change. He used his tenure as Prime Minister under Emmanuel Macron as an example to show that progress is possible without causing social unrest.
In his speech, Attal outlined two central objectives: to make France the leading power in Europe within a decade and to give every French citizen the confidence that future generations will lead better lives. He understands this message as a counterbalance to extremist positions and aims to strengthen the political center.
The candidate identified the parties “La France Insoumise” and “Rassemblement National” as his main competitors. He described them as “merchants of hate” and “apostles of decline” and urged voters to resolutely oppose them at the polls.
Attal outlined four key areas of his program. In the education sector, he set ambitious goals: he wants to bring France to the top of the international PISA education rankings within ten years. On the labor market, he plans a comprehensive wage increase and rejects the “monopoly claim” of the Left on this issue.
The migration issue is to be regulated through a “preference for work,” supported by a quota system which he envisions in a European context. Additionally, he wants to develop France into a leading force in the field of artificial intelligence.
Regarding financial policy, Attal declared his intention to reduce public debt and lower the budget deficit over the next ten years. In particular, he wants to rein in social spending and presented reform ideas for the pension system, which is to function without a fixed retirement age and includes capital funding.
Environmental protection is also part of his program: Attal calls for halving greenhouse gas emissions in France within a decade to combat climate change and reduce the so-called climate debt.
With his appearance, Gabriel Attal has signaled the start of a campaign that relies on approval through concrete actions and confidence among citizens. The challenge is to overcome political polarization and gain broad support for his agenda.
