Russian Missile Attack Injures Eleven People in Kyiv

Kyiv – 11 July 2026: Eleven people were injured in a Russian attack involving missiles and drones on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, according to Ukrainian authorities and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Those injured reportedly include a child. The attacks took place during the night and early morning. Emergency services were deployed in several parts of the city.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia used a total of twelve missiles as well as more than 120 drones and decoys in the attack. The missiles reportedly included six ballistic Iskander-M or S-400 missiles, four Kh-59 or Kh-69 cruise missiles, and two anti-radar missiles. The information could not initially be independently verified in all details.

Damage to buildings and other civilian infrastructure was reported in Kyiv. Footage released by Ukrainian authorities showed emergency personnel amid smoke, rubble and damaged facades. On Saturday morning, authorities were still assessing the extent of the damage in the affected districts. Complete information on possible additional victims or the severity of the injuries was not initially available.

Reports from Kyiv said the timing of the explosions was particularly notable: several detonations were reportedly heard before the air-raid alert was activated in the city. This makes it more difficult for residents to reach shelters in time and once again presents major challenges for the capital’s warning systems.

President Zelenskyy said civilian infrastructure had been hit. He also pointed to the large number of drones and missiles used. Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukrainian cities in recent weeks, repeatedly targeting areas far from the front line. Moscow initially did not comment in detail on the attack on Kyiv.

Ukraine’s air defenses reported countermeasures against the overnight wave of attacks. The initial official statements did not provide a final breakdown of how many missiles and drones were intercepted. Authorities urged residents to continue following warning alerts and to avoid entering damaged areas so that emergency services and investigators can work without obstruction.

The attack comes amid continuing air strikes against Ukraine. For Kyiv, it once again places strain on emergency services, energy and transport infrastructure, and civilian daily life. The damage assessment may still change as emergency personnel continue to examine the affected districts and treat the injured.
